Thank you for your interest in being a research participant in our lab! Our research participants come from universities as well as the general community, and may be compensated for the time that they commit to our studies.
If you are over the age of 18 and would like to participate, see the list of currently active studies to the right, choose a study that interests you, and email the study’s contact person!
To be informed of future experiment opportunities, please request to join our participant pool here. You will receive a confirmation email once your request has been approved. You can find more information on our participant pool here.
A three-part (each approx. 90 minutes) EEG study involving a fast-paced visual response task. Compensation totals $120 for the completion of all three sessions at a rate of $30, $40, and $50 sequentially per session.

How does visual perception work when barely visible and very difficult to see? In this experiment you will observe brief dynamic displays with added visual noise and see if you detect the presence of a specific visual pattern. It gets pretty challenging and you may sometimes have to guess.
Duration: 4 sessions, each approximately 1 hour long
Pay: $17 (session 1), $22 (session 2), $27 (session 3), $32 (session 4), total: $98

Is telepathy real? Could people have subtle forms of telepathy that we don’t normally notice? In this study, we explore these questions using pairs of participants. One participant will watch a short video clip and attempt to mentally “send” it to the other participant. The second participant will attempt to get those signals while in a perceptual deprivation state, and then will be asked to identify the video clip the first participant watched. Each participant will get to experience both roles.
Duration: 3 hours

This research seeks to understand cognitive processes surrounding decision-making in morally complex situations. Participants will play a simple decision-making game that might include receiving mild electric shocks and a choice to give mild electric shocks to another participant.
Duration: One session which can last up to 3 hours.
Compensation: A payment of $30 for your participation + an extra bonus based on your performance (only awarded if you are included in the study, based on your screening questionnaire answers).

This study continues investigation of visual perception and conscious access in humans. You will be asked to observe visual stimuli and answer simple perception-related questions. The experiment will take 1 or 2 sessions that last approximately 2 hours. We will use electroencephalography (EEG) recording and eye-tracking methods in a dichoptic color fusion paradigm. You will be asked to use special prism glasses to facilitate dichoptic vision.
Requirements: (1) age of 18 years old or older; (2) normal or corrected-to-normal vision; (3) trichromatic vision (no colorblindness); (4) no history of seizures, stroke, or head trauma; (5) no current use psychoactive medications that affect the norepinephrine system; (6) fluency with spoken and written English.
Participants are compensated at $10.00 per ½ hour ($40 per 2-hour session).
